Christchurch

Today was spent on “first day chores” with plenty of time to explore Christchurch’s ruined beauty.

In February 2011 the city suffered a devastating aftershock and fell apart.

Christchurch is remarkable. Rebuilt and supported (literally) using shipping containers, the atmosphere is up beat, optimistic. Downright perky even.

We had our breath taken away by the view across the Lyttelton Harbour.

Ate chips in Sumner.
