Today was mostly about moving our base-camp from Franz to Wanaka and enjoying the trip.
The journey south to Haast impressed with yet more mountains; yet more forests; yet more coastline; yet more rivers.
At Haast we headed inland and were assaulted by a series of just unbelievable views of mountains, rivers, waterfalls, lakes and hills.
Imagine the Lake District, but turned up to 11. No photograph will do it justice – probably best just jump on the next available flight.
A little shellshocked by the beauty of our journey, we arrived in Wanaka; a much larger, much busier and much more touristy town than we’ve seen so far. The change in pace will be fun.
