A change of pace for our final day in Wanaka. After the glacial climb yesterday we selected a walk along the banks of the Upper Clutha River (that flows from the lake at Wanaka).
You may be detecting a theme here, the walk was just beautiful; crystal clear waters, gentle farm land and the ever present snow capped mountains in the distance.
We returned to base to avoid the heat of the afternoon, before venturing out to see “Sugar Man” at the local picture house. Needless to say, the Cinema Paradiso is no ordinary picture house – the seats are an eclectic mix of sofas, armchairs and cars from the 50’s and 60’s. During the interval, you can get freshly baked cookies and a refill of your wine glass.
Early night now, for tomorrow we head for the Fiordland and Te Anau.
