Over an exceptional meal accompanied by local wine and beer, Leigh and I discussed how to describe today’s adventure. Magnificent is about all we can agree on; and it seems fitting.
Milford Sound is a glacial fiord; a narrow inlet 200 meters deep with sheer cliffs towering well over a kilometre high.
The landscape here is quite different from what we’ve seen before; more meadows, more forests, more rivers, more lakes, more mountains but wilder, rougher … more raw.
We cruised up the fiord itself, the landscape was quite simply breathtaking.
Magnificent.
Hopefully the photos will give you some idea.
