For our last day in Fiordland we took to the Kepler Track (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kepler_Track) once again.
After a short break to take a photo of Leigh, we took a water taxi across Te Anau lake and picked up the track in the scrub.
The lower sections of the Kepler Track follow meandering rivers through mossy forests; they have a strange otherworldly beauty.
After a couple of hours of very gentle walking, we stopped for a snooze in a tussock meadow overlooking the lake. For the 15th day in a row, the weather was just beautiful – nary a cloud in the sky.
Another stroll for an hour or so around the lake and we arrived at our motel door.
After a quick cup of tea, we went into town for some fantastic fish and chips and a bit of supply shopping.
This evening we will probably head back in for a final drink (or two) at the Fat Duck. We’ve grown very fond of Te Anau over these last few days; it’s got a lovely vibe, some terrific places to eat and plenty of activities.
Tomorrow we head for Invercargill.
