Dunedin

Today we spent the morning exploring Dunedin city, and the afternoon exploring the Otago Peninsula (a bit like a big rural suburb of Dunedin).

“The Lay Association of the Free Church of Scotland founded Dunedin at the head of Otago Harbour in 1848 as the principal town of its Scottish settlement. The name comes from Dùn Èideann, the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh.”

The Dunedin we explored was very nice; unpretentious, a bit worn around the edges, friendly; unremarkable … but in a nice way.

This afternoon, we took to the picturesque hills and cliffs of the peninsula.

This evening, we had pizza in the ‘burbs (cleverly avoiding the many English cricket fans with whom we share the city at the moment).
