Another day in town – today we were tourists; we traipsed up the steepest street in the world (so Guinness book says at 1 in 1.26 gradient), drove along more beautiful windy roads on the northern arm of the Otago harbour and had a quick look at Port Chalmers, and then high-tailed back for the 4.00 walking tour of the city.
The tourist info (i-site) offices are great here – and through them a guy called Athol Parks runs a city walk – complete with local colour and history. We had wandered about over two days and thought we’d seen most of the highlights but the personal guided walk did give us a much better understanding of the city and the area – both past and present. Highly recommended.
