The blur

The one thing about a short trip, is that it seems to stretch time. We left late Friday afternoon, arrived (thanks to the time difference) late Friday night. We stayed Friday night in a cheap airport hotel (sparten for a hotel, a bathroom and comfortable bed).

Saturday we picked up the car, had some coffee (lucked upon an icebreaker outlet store) and went for a short explore around Auckland’s suburbs in search of food and a decent map. Cornwall Park was lovely although devoid of food and a decent map so we ventured further in to Newmarket to complete those tasks.

We finally made it out of the city and headed west for the coast and Piha, our home for Saturday and Sunday night.

Emily and Eamonn came by, bought steaks and we chatted until the sun had set over the Tasman Sea which we can see from our well appointed deck. Very civilised.

Today we are going to explore Piha a little (there’s not much to explore).
