I am, you are, we are Australian

Okay, so I’m still British and I’ll soon be living in New Zealand for a while but yep, I became an Australian today.

It’s a strange and wonderful feeling when your are welcomed by an entire country. And while my reasons are mostly practical, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to being a little bit emotional about becoming an Australian (just a little bit … let’s not get carried away).

And sure, we all know that Australia has some problems … but what country isn’t struggling with getting core pillars of being a modern democratic nation right. However, today I put aside any issues and concerns and be truly, honestly, from the bottom of my heart, proud to be an Australian.

And sure – I am leaving Australia for a while in two days time, but I’ll still call Australia home.

Oh and Cornwall.

And probably New Zealand soon.

But Australia. Yay.
