We breakfasted at Federal Diner after a brief visit to that Wanaka Tree.
Overly fortified, we hit the road and after another trip over the beautiful Crown Range we arrived in Arrowtown (after a photo-stop at the Cardrona Hotel). Truth be told, we arrived probably a week after the best of the autumn colours, but still, despite a myriad of meandering tourists crammed the twee high street, it’s hard not to love Arrowtown.
After a brief stop to reflect on Lake Hayes we explored Queenstown for an hour or so. I’ve said it before, I’ll probably say it again, but I don’t really like Queenstown. I feel I should, it is impossibly picturesque; it is also home to a really good selection of shops and cafes; and there are certainly no shortage of things to do, but I just don’t really like it. Maybe I’ve just not given it a fair go yet.
We dawdled back to Wanaka the long way around as the sun began to set. We stopped off for some more lovely landscapes, a winery, some fruit shopping.
Now we recoup bake at base camp before going to eat Italian food.
Tomorrow we should really think about getting some exercise.
Such colours! Looks a solid 7.
Totally, maybe even a high 7 out of 10
