Welcome to The Obligatory Blog … a “humble” addition to the unrelenting torrent of content created by anyone with access to the internet. But don’t worry, this particular stream of drivel has a purpose; for now, it’s mostly holiday journal-flavoured.
It all began on Saturday, 16th February 2013, when we embarked on a holiday to New Zealand’s South Island. To preserve the trip (and share our adventures with friends and family), we lovingly hand-crafted an Obligatory Travel Blog on Tumblr. The plan was simple, document each day with a few carefully chosen words, some photographs, and the occasional overly-long, poorly edited video. And, surprisingly, we actually stuck to it.
Since then, the blog has carried on, albeit at a much slower pace. A photo here, a post there … it’s still got that holiday journal vibe, but who knows what the future might bring?
Addendum: on (or around) the blog’s first birthday, I gave it a new name “The Obligatory Blog” and moved it to WordPress. And here we are.
