There and back again

So we headed for the UK once again (seems like we can’t stay away). For little more than to aid my own memory in the future, here’s a quick breakdown.

We flew direct (well, via Kuala Lumpur) late on Friday 17th, and arrive in London relatively unscathed on Saturday night. Upon arrival in Paddington we ate a hearty Italian meal hand had a few glasses of wine (and beer) and slept solidly.

Sunday we chored and strolled through the parks and London streets (pretty in the early spring). We also saw the musical Matilda (it was most excellent), ate a huge Chinese meal (again, most excellent) and walked back to Paddington, exhausted and content to our tiny room.

Monday we picked up the car (at Heathrow) and drove to the Prince Albert in Windsor that would be home for the next ten days or so. We then sank into a comfortable routine of catching up with Kate, seeing dad and shopping for essentials in and around Windsor. That was the way until Saturday when we headed to Cornwall (via Ikea) to check on Dad’s house, tidy up and chat to some real-estate agents. Saturday evening we ate Fish and Chips from Holmbush. Sunday morning we shopped in Truro (very nice) and then worked on the house before eating extremely well at the Polgooth Inn. Monday, we worked at the house and ate … ahem … at the Polgooth Inn again. Tuesday we travelled back to Windsor and spent a lovely evening with the Turner’s (Louis’ birthday … Indian take-away).

Wednesday was a last visit to dad and Kate before a walk into Windsor and a meal and gin and tonic or two at the Two Brewers (a most excellent pub near the castle).

We then returned to Brisbane, tired but happy. We arrived after heavy rains had bought Brisbane to a standstill and got home with hardly a problem.
