Wellington: day 2

Ever suckers for a walking tour (well, one of us is), we rose, ate (Pandoro – very good) and met up with other walking tour fans at the i-site. The next two and a half hours we were led through the heart of Wellington and filled to the brim with interested facts and surprising history (that often revolved around earthquakes).

The tour left us at the remarkable Old St. Paul’s; from there we strolled back into town, played in the Museum of Wellington (small, perfectly formed – one of the top 50 museums in the world apparently) and the meandered with many other people along to Oriental Bay. Wellington is small. It took very little time to walk seemingly from one end of the city to the other (okay, the city stretches much further in all directions – but still).

The weather, quite frankly, was beautiful.

We then collapsed back at the hotel for a short while before heading to Restaurant 88 (Vietnamese) and the bloody marvellous Hawthorne bar for a nightcap.
